Day 1 - Sydney Opera House & Surry Hills
On the first day of our Sydney adventure, we start by checking into our hotel and settling into the heart of the city with the excitement of what's to come. After getting comfortable, we'll head out to one of Sydney's most iconic landmarks: the Sydney Opera House. As you stand in awe of its architectural beauty, you'll feel the energy of the city around you.
From there, we walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens which feels like a peaceful little escape from the world. The gardens offer stunning views of the harbor, making it a perfect spot to soak in the beauty of Sydney.
For lunch, we'll keep it light and fresh with a stop at a local sushi stand. Grab a sushi roll and enjoy the flavors as we continue our journey.
The afternoon will be spent exploring the charming neighborhood of Surry Hills, known for its unique boutiques, street art, and cozy cafes. As we wander through this area, you'll get a taste of Sydney's creative side. To wrap up our adventure on a sweet note, we'll visit Miss Sina Bakery, where you can treat yourself to one of their famous Le Crookie: a chocolate chip cookie baked into a Croissant.
After our afternoon exploring Surry Hills, we'll head to Darlinghurst for dinner at Gino's Kitchen and Cocktails, a hidden gem known for its cozy atmosphere and exquisite cuisine. As the evening sets in, we'll start with some yummy handcrafted cocktails. For the entrée, we decided to go for a creamy burrata paired with fresh, juicy tomatoes. The main course is seafood pasta, perfectly cooked and generously loaded with succulent mussels and other seafood delicacies.
It's the perfect ending to our first day in Sydney, setting the vibe for all the tasty eats and cool cultural adventures coming our way!

Day 2 - Bondi Beach & Hall Street
As we embark on our second day in Sydney, it’s worth noting how easy it is to get around this vibrant city. Sydney’s public transport system is incredibly convenient, with trains, buses, ferries, and light rail all connecting key areas across the city. The best part? Everything is tap-to-pay! Just use your credit or debit card to tap on and off, making it simple to hop from one adventure to the next without worrying about tickets or passes.
Today, we'll head to the iconic Bondi Beach for a day of sun and sand. After a relaxing morning on the beach, we’ll satisfy our hunger with a visit to Don Pedros, a lively restaurant just across the street, where we’ll dive into some flavorful tacos filled with fresh ingredients and a burst of Mexican flair.
Once we’ve had our fill of tacos, we’ll head over to Anita Gelato, indulging in some of the creamiest ice cream around. With a wide variety of flavors, there’s something for everyone.
Next, we’ll stroll down Hall Street, where a bunch of cool shops are waiting for you. From trendy boutiques to quirky stores, it’s the perfect spot to find unique souvenirs or simply enjoy a relaxing window-shopping experience. As we explore, we’ll stumble upon Gertrude & Alice Cafe Bookstore, a charming cafe that’s also a haven for book lovers. Here, we can browse the shelves, find a cozy corner to relax with a cup of coffee and soak in the literary ambiance.
For dinner, we’ll make our way to Iberica, an intimate Spanish restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We dive into a spread of Spanish eats, from tapas to classic paella, enjoying every bite as we chill and wrap up the day. It was the ultimate mix of beach vibes, tasty eats, and a splash of shopping, making day two in Sydney just perfect!

Day 3 - Taronga Zoo & Sydney Harbour
On our third day in Sydney, we're off on an epic adventure packed with killer views and awesome wildlife! We'll begin by taking a scenic ferry ride to Taronga Zoo, located on the shores of Sydney Harbour. It’s just a quick 12-minute journey from Circular Quay, right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
At Taronga Zoo, you’ll get up close with lots of animals, from towering giraffes to playful elephants and, of course, the famous kangaroos! As we explore the zoo, we’ll enjoy amazing views of the harbor while wandering through different animal habitats. Since the zoo involves quite a bit of walking, I’d recommend wearing comfortable shoes to fully enjoy the experience.
After a day filled with wildlife wonders, we’ll wrap up the evening with a truly unique Sydney experience: Mov’in Bed, an Outdoor Bed Cinema. Imagine watching your favorite films under the stars while lying in a cozy bed! Before you go, be sure to check their website to see what movies are playing and book your tickets in advance.
I opted for the full experience, renting a bed to watch Bob Marley: One Love. The best part? You can order food and drinks directly from your bed, and they’ll be served to you as you relax and enjoy the movie. It’s an unforgettable way to end the day, combining the magic of cinema with the comfort of a starry night in Sydney.

Day 4 - Milk Beach & Double Bay
On our fourth day in Sydney, we're venturing to a lesser-known but absolutely charming spot: Milk Beach, located near Double Bay. This hidden gem offers stunning views of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney CBD, all from a serene, tucked-away beach. It’s the perfect place to unwind and take in the beauty of the city from a different perspective.
As we relax on the sand, keep an eye out for a special treat. A unique ice cream boat that occasionally pulls up to shore to sell ice cream and other goodies. It’s a delightful surprise that adds a touch of whimsy to the day.
After enjoying the beach, we’ll explore more of the Hermitage Foreshore Track, a walking path that winds along the coast, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline and harbor. This scenic walk is a must-do, providing plenty of opportunities for beautiful photos and peaceful moments by the water.
For dinner, we’ll head to The Butler, a super cool Ibero-American spot with a dreamy, lit-up patio and lots of greenery. The vibe is cozy but classy, perfect for chilling out with some amazing food. The menu’s an interesting fusion of Latin American and Mediterranean flavors, making the whole dining experience just as awesome as the setting!
It's been a day of hidden treasures and culinary delights, showcasing yet another side of Sydney’s diverse and lively character.

Day 5 - Blue Mountains
Day trip to the Blue Mountains
Today, we’re diving into an epic adventure in the breathtaking Blue Mountains, a total paradise, especially for hikers and nature lovers! Though a longer stay would offer more time to explore this region, this guide will help you make the most of a single day, embracing its fresh mountain air, stunning landscapes, and serene surroundings.
To fully appreciate what the Blue Mountains have to offer, start your day early. If you're driving, pack up your car and head towards Katoomba. Those taking the train, should catch an early service from Central Station to Katoomba Station. Once you arrive in Katoomba, stop by a local shop or café to pick up snacks and picnic supplies. These will be perfect for a midday break.
Now it’s time to set out on foot towards the iconic Three Sisters Lookout. This will be your gateway to exploring the Blue Mountains' majestic views. As you make your way, follow the well-marked trail that leads to the major lookout points, ensuring you don’t miss any of the highlights.
Soon enough you'll reach the Echo Point Visitor Centre. Here, the trail will guide you through lush eucalypt forests and the sounds of native bird calls. Your first stop, Oreades Lookout, offers a panoramic view of the Three Sisters and the hazy Jamison Valley stretching towards Mount Solitary. Continue to Lady Game Lookout, just 50 meters away, for a closer look at the Three Sisters' remarkable rock formations. The adventure continues as you climb the steep Giant Stairway to Honeymoon Bridge, which connects to the first sister. If you’re feeling energetic and have extra time, consider exploring longer trails like the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, Dardanelles Pass Loop Walking Track, or the Three Sisters Walk to Scenic World via the Giant Stairway.
If you are up to exploring another part of the Blue Mountains, I suggest boarding the train from Katoomba to Wentworth Falls station, which is just a short ride away. From the station, embark on the path leading to Wentworth Falls. This trail offers spectacular bush walks and views. If you need a little adventure, veer off the main path to discover a hidden waterfall where you can take a refreshing dip. After your waterfall sprinkles, find a scenic spot to enjoy your picnic. Enjoy your meal while soaking in the stunning surroundings.
You can then either take the stairs all the way to the bottom of the falls or decide to head back to the station to make your way back to Sydney! Since we had a long day behind us, we decided to head on back.
By the time you return to Central Station in Sydney, the city lights will start to sparkle against the twilight sky, offering a beautiful contrast to the natural beauty you’ve witnessed. Consider treating yourself to a delightful dinner at a nearby restaurant or like us, dress up and head over to DEAN & NANCY ON 22 for a nice cocktail overlooking the Sydney skyline

Day 6 - Bondi to Coogee Walk
On day six, we're taking it easy after an action-packed day in the Blue Mountains, starting with a hearty breakfast at Preach Cafe in Bondi. This cozy spot near the beach is perfect for a relaxed morning, with delicious food and a beautiful presentation. I couldn’t resist the Lotus Biscoff pancakes. They were so fluffy and soft, a perfect treat to kick off the day.
After breakfast, we’ll set out on one of Sydney’s most iconic activities: the Bondi to Coogee Walk. This 6-kilometer urban coastal trail offers stunning views of beaches, cliff tops, and lookout points, making it an absolute must-do while in Sydney. The walk starts at the right side of Bondi Beach and winds along the coast, passing other beautiful beaches like Bronte Beach, where I recommend taking a break to soak in some sun and enjoy the laid-back vibe.
As we continue, the trail offers amazing views of the ocean and opportunities to take stunning pictures of some of Sydney's most scenic spots. This walk is one of my favorite things to do in Sydney, as it perfectly combines exercise, nature, and sightseeing.
Once we reach Coogee, you can either take a bus back to Bondi or, if you’re feeling up to it, walk back along the same trail. After all that walking, you’ll likely be ready for a delicious meal, so I suggest stopping by Speedos Cafe. This trendy, Instagram-worthy spot is known for its amazing sea views and fresh, delicious food. Perfect if you just need to refuel after the Bondi to Coogee adventure.
Today was all about chilling out, soaking up the gorgeous Sydney coast, and treating ourselves to the city’s coolest cafe, just the perfect recipe for unwinding and recharging!

Day 7 - Burning Palms Beach & Figure 8 Pools
Day Trip to Burning Palms Beach & Figure 8 Pools
Today we set out to explore the Royal National Park. There are so many different places to explore including the Wedding Cake Rock, the Karloo Pools, the Figure 8 Pools, and many secluded beaches. Today we are exploring one of the most beautiful beaches in the Royal National Park: Burning Palms Beach. Not only does this beach offer a remote island feeling, but the trail itself offers stunning views of the coast. And if you’re lucky and the tide is low, you can adventure from the beach to the Figure 8 Pools!
My personal journey started with a train ride from Central Station, but I highly advise renting a car instead. The train ride is easy, but the hike from the station and back will be long and tiring, especially after a sun-soaked day. I almost missed the last train home, which departed at 5:30 pm. A car would definitely simplify the journey. After a long day exploring and an already long hike back to the parking lot, a car would have spared us from another nearly two-hour hike back to the station.
For the Figure 8 Pools, check the weather, tide, and swell conditions. The Figure Eight Pools are only accessible at low tide; during high tide, the pools are completely submerged and the rock platform becomes dangerously slippery due to the crashing waves. To ensure a safe visit, aim for a day with dry weather and minimal swell.
To reach the Figure 8 Pools by car you have to park at Garrawarra Farm Car Park in the Royal National Park. From there, you have to hike for roughly 6 km to reach the actual pools. The first part of the hike will take us through a peaceful woodland path, leading us to the beautiful Burning Palms Beach where we can relax and enjoy a picnic with the ocean as our backdrop. If you are extending your adventure to the Figure 8 Pools, then the final stretch will take you across a rock platform, navigating large rocks before reaching the flatter area where the Pools are located. Although the hike is a bit tiring, the journey will be worth it.
You’ll arrive at the pools at low tide when the rock shelf will be calm and the crystal-clear pools perfect for a refreshing swim. The rugged scenery and serene pools will make for an exhilarating experience, and you’ll spend time soaking in the views, snapping photos, and basking in the sun. The Figure Eight Pools will truly be a breathtaking reward for your efforts.
After we returned to the city and spent an amazing day in the sun what could be better than unwinding with a nice cold beer at Buckettys Brewery and listening to some life music.

The workout will leave you feeling energized and centered, ready to enjoy the rest of the day.
After our workout, we’ll take a short stroll to Harry’s Bondi, a fabulous cafe known for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious offerings. Treat yourself to their incredible matcha—it’s hands down the best I’ve ever had. Paired with one of their sweet treats, it’s a perfect post-workout reward.

Day 9 - Manly & Shelly Beach
Today, we're heading to Manly, a charming beachside suburb on Sydney's Northern Beaches, located just across the harbor. To get there, we’ll take a scenic ferry ride from Circular Quay, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Sydney skyline and the harbor along the way.

Shelly Beach is a total fave for its chill vibes and clear waters, perfect for snorkeling. Plus, it’s a shell collector’s paradise with loads of stunning finds! The underwater world here is amazing, and on my last visit, I spotted many colorful fish and even an octopus!
For lunch, we’ll head to The Pantry, a charming beachside restaurant with stunning views of the ocean. The menu features modern Australian cuisine crafted with fresh, local ingredients, offering a true taste of Sydney’s coastal dining.
Before we make our way back to Sydney, we’ll stop by ButterBoy Bakery, an absolute must-visit. This bakery is famous for its mouthwatering cookies, freshly baked and served with vanilla custard. With a variety of flavors to choose from, each cookie is rich, soft, and warm, creating a heavenly experience with every bite. You can even watch the bakers in action, making it a sweet and memorable end to our day in Manly.

Day 10 - Art & Culture in Sydney
Today, we’re diving into Sydney’s rich history and culture by exploring some of the city’s most fascinating museums. Our first stop is the Hyde Park Barracks which is part of the Museum of Hisory NSW, a historic site that offers a unique insight into Australia’s convict past and its impact on both Aboriginal Australia and early immigration. This isn’t just a museum, it’s an immersive experience. As you walk through the barracks, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the people who lived and worked there, standing where they stood and listening to their stories through an iPod and headphones provided at the entrance. With free entry, this is a must-see for anyone interested in Australia’s early history.
Next, we’ll head to the Australian Museum, the oldest museum in the country. Also offering free entry, this museum primarily focuses on natural history, with extensive collections that range from Australian fauna to global biodiversity. As you explore the exhibits, you’ll get a deep understanding of the natural world and Australia’s unique environment.
While we’re in the area, we’ll also take some time to visit St. Mary’s Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture and the longest church in Australia. Located on College Street near the eastern border of Sydney’s CBD, St. Mary’s is not only a place of worship but also a historical landmark worth exploring. After admiring the cathedral's grandeur, we can relax in the nearby park, a perfect spot to sunbathe and unwind after a day of exploration. The area is dotted with cafes, making it easy to grab a coffee or a snack and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
As the day turns to night, we’ll cap off our museum day with an iconic experience, seeing a concert inside the Sydney Opera House. Whether you’re into theatre, orchestras, or operas, there’s always something spectacular on offer at this world-famous venue. The grandeur of the Opera House, combined with its diverse range of performances, makes for a truly magical evening. Attending a show here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in Sydney’s vibrant arts and culture scene while enjoying the stunning architecture of this global landmark. Day 11 - Kangaroos, Wallabies, and Pademelons
Today is all about getting up close and personal with Australia’s unique wildlife and soaking in some unforgettable cultural experiences. We’re starting our day at Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park, where you’ll have the amazing opportunity to feed kangaroos, wallabies, and pademelons. For just $4 per cup of food, you can explore the park’s three walk-through areas and make some new furry friends. It’s a heartwarming experience to interact with these gentle animals, and the park also offers special encounters where you can get close and cuddly with koalas, penguins, wombats, and even farmyard animals.
To close out our amazing day, we’re heading to Coogee Beach for a picturesque sunset picnic. Even though the sun doesn’t set directly over this part of the coast, the sky still lights up with beautiful colors, creating the perfect backdrop for our evening.
First, we’ll stop by Johnny Gio’s to grab a delicious pizza - ideal for a laid-back beach picnic. Then, we’ll swing by the grocery store right across the street to pick up some snacks and drinks to complete our feast. With everything in hand, we’ll head to Coogee Beach, find a comfy spot on the sand, and settle in for a perfect evening.
As we enjoy our pizza and snacks, we’ll listen to the soothing sounds of the waves, watch the beach life around us, and take in the vibrant colors of the sky as the day turns into night. It’s a peaceful and fulfilling way to reflect on the day’s adventures and soak up the last moments of our time in Sydney. This picnic is the perfect way to end an unforgettable day.
To close out our amazing day, we’re heading to Coogee Beach for a picturesque sunset picnic. Even though the sun doesn’t set directly over this part of the coast, the sky still lights up with beautiful colors, creating the perfect backdrop for our evening.

Today is all about soaking up the sun and enjoying some of Sydney's most picturesque waters at Murray Rose Pool. Often hailed as the best ocean pool in Sydney, this harbourside tidal enclosure provides a safe and serene spot for swimming, with the added bonus of stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It’s the perfect place to relax, take a dip in the refreshing water, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We had fun jumping in the water and catching jellyfish!
After your swim, you can treat yourself to something delicious at the cafe located at the top of the stairs. They offer a great selection of refreshing drinks, smoothies, acai bowls, salads, and sandwiches—perfect for a light and healthy lunch by the water.
As the day winds down, we’ll head over to The Golden Sheaf in Double Bay for dinner. This chic iconic pub offers a breezy lounge, a spacious balcony, and a lush beer garden, making it an ideal spot to unwind. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with gourmet pub grub that’s sure to satisfy. Plus, with live music adding to the ambiance, it’s the perfect way to cap off a relaxing day in the sun.

Day 13 - Sandboarding & Camel Riding
Are you ready for an adventure today? We’re off to the stunning Port Stephens, a beautiful seaside escape just a 2.5-hour drive from Sydney. Known for its gorgeous beaches and dramatic sand dunes, Port Stephens is the perfect place for a day of fun and exploration!
Morning Activities: Our first stop is Birubi Beach, where the excitement begins with some thrilling sandboarding and camel riding. For sandboarding, I’ve pre-booked the experience through GetYourGuide, which provides a convenient 4WD transfer to the dunes. If you haven’t booked ahead, don’t worry—there are several companies at the site offering sandboarding adventures.
For a unique experience, you can also go camel riding with Oakfield Ranch. They offer 20-minute rides from 10 am to 3:30 pm daily. If you prefer a longer ride, they have 1-hour rides available on Saturdays and sunset rides on Fridays and Saturdays. Just be prepared to wait in line for the camel rides, as they are quite popular!
Getting There:
If you’re driving, it’s a straightforward 2-hour journey from Sydney. However, if you’re traveling by public transportation, the trip takes about 4 hours, so consider booking a hotel for the night to fully enjoy your time in Port Stephens.
Here’s how to get there by train and bus:
Start at Central Station: Head to platform 18 and board the T1 Line towards Blacktown via Parramatta.
Change at Strathfield: Transfer to platform 3 and catch the Central Coast & Newcastle Line towards Newcastle Interchange via Epping.
Arrive at Newcastle Interchange: Walk to stand A and board the 130 Bus towards Fingal Bay.
Get off at Gan Gan Rd opp James Paterson St: It’s then a 15-minute walk to Birubi Beach.
Make sure to double-check the platform and bus details before you travel, as they can occasionally change.
Port Stephens promises a day full of adventure, stunning natural beauty, and unforgettable experiences. Enjoy your time riding camels, sandboarding, and soaking in the coastal charm!

Day 14 - Sydney’s iconic sights with sporty vibes
This morning, we’re starting our day with a quintessential Sydney experience, grabbing a coffee and walking across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. The pedestrian walkway on the eastern side of the bridge offers some of the best views of Sydney Harbour, and the best part? Access is completely free! As you stroll along the walkway, take your time to soak in the stunning vistas of the Opera House, Circular Quay, and the shimmering waters of the harbor. It’s the ultimate way to see the city from a fresh angle and snag some epic pics while you’re at it!
After our scenic walk, we’ll dive into one of Sydney’s most exciting pastimes: watching a rugby game! The Allianz Stadium is the home ground of the Sydney Roosters, NSW Waratahs, and Sydney FC, making it a hub for thrilling sports action. I decided to catch a home game of the Sydney Roosters, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. The stadium buzzes with energy as fans cheer on their team, and it’s an experience that’s both exciting and uniquely Australian.
As you watch the game, you can enjoy a selection of drinks and food from the stadium’s vendors, making it a really fun afternoon. Whether you’re a rugby fan or just looking for a new experience, this is a must-do while you’re in Sydney. Be sure to check the schedule and grab your tickets in advance at Allianz Stadium to secure your spot.

Day 15 - Shop till we drop!
It's hard to believe our time in Sydney has come to an end, but we’re going to make the most of our last day by immersing ourselves in the heart of the city. Sydney Central is the perfect place to explore, shop, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
We’ll start by heading to the Westfield Mall, where you can easily lose yourself in the endless array of shops. From high-end boutiques to popular brands, there’s something for everyone. Whether you're hunting for last-minute souvenirs or treating yourself to something special, Westfield has it all.
Next, we’ll make our way to the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), a true gem of Sydney. This architectural marvel is not just a shopping destination but an experience in itself. The grandeur and elegance of the building are captivating, with its beautiful blend of historic charm and modern sophistication. As you stroll through the QVB, you’ll find a mix of unique shops, luxury brands, and even quaint cafes, all set within a beautifully restored 19th-century building.
When it’s time for a light lunch, I recommend stopping by one of these two charming cafes: Something About Jess, where you can enjoy fresh and delicious salads, perfect for a midday pick-me-up, or Zenius, known for its exceptional coffee and irresistible avocado toasts. Both offer a cozy and inviting atmosphere, ideal for relaxing and reflecting on your time in Sydney.
As we wrap up our final day, take a moment to appreciate the energy of the city, the stunning sights, and the incredible experiences we've shared. It's been an unforgettable journey, and Sydney has certainly left its mark on our hearts.

Last Thoughts - extra tips & experiences I wish I had time for
Here are some extra tips to make your Sydney experience even more enjoyable:
Farmers Markets: If you’re in Sydney on a Saturday, be sure to check out the local farmers markets! They’re a fantastic way to sample fresh, local produce and handmade goods. My favorites are in the suburbs of Manly, Glebe, and Bondi. Each market has its own unique vibe, offering everything from gourmet food to artisanal crafts.
Trivia Wednesdays: Many restaurants in Sydney host trivia nights on Wednesdays, turning your midweek dining into a fun competition! You can reserve a table and join in the trivia fun, where the whole restaurant participates. The winning team usually walks away with a coupon or gift card. I had a blast at Kings Cross Hotel, where they also offered $1 chicken wings. Our group won a free drink for each person and a $50 gift card to the restaurant—definitely a night to remember!
Vivid Sydney: If you’re traveling to Sydney at the end of May, you’ll have the chance to experience Vivid Sydney. This annual festival of light, music, and ideas transforms the city into a vibrant wonderland. The event features outdoor immersive light installations, projections, and performances by local and international musicians, along with thought-provoking talks and debates. It’s a spectacular celebration that you won’t want to miss.
Here are a few experiences I wish I had time for during my trip to Sydney - definitely consider adding these to your itinerary:
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb: One of the most iconic Australian experiences, the BridgeClimb Sydney takes you to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The climb offers unparalleled views of the city and harbor, making it a breathtaking adventure. It's a unique way to see Sydney from a new perspective and definitely something I regret missing out on!
Day Trip to Hunter Valley: If you have a day to spare, a trip to Hunter Valley is a must, especially for food and wine lovers. This wine region is known for its exquisite vineyards and gourmet dining options. You can take a day wine tour with Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tours, which offers various packages to explore the best of the region. Without a car, you can reach Hunter Valley by taking a Regional TrainLink train from Sydney to Maitland, followed by a bus to Cessnock. It takes about 4.5 hours, so make sure to plan and book ahead.
