Saalachtaler Hoehenweg
Embark on a fun adventure along the Saalachtaler Höhenweg, an enchanting trail that begins at the Asitz in Leogang and winds its way to the exhilarating toboggan run at Biberg in Saalfelden.
As you set off from Asitz Valley Station, you take the mountain cable car to the top of the mountain. From there head up to the cross for an amazing panoramic view of the Leoganger Steinberge. The hiking path then takes us to the “Cinema of Nature" where you can relax on one of the wooden lounge chairs or lay in a hammock listening to the sound of nature around you.
Now we begin with our hike along the Saarlachtaler Hoehenweg. This high-altitude path is a hiker's paradise, weaving through vibrant alpine meadows adorned with wildflowers and tranquil forests where the air is crisp and the scent of pine tickles your nose. Along the way, you'll encounter a charming wooden hut and several benches offering delightful spots to rest and savor a traditional snack while soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
As you continue your hike, keep an eye out for the local wildlife—majestic deer, playful marmots, and perhaps even a soaring eagle. Almost at the end of our hike, we reach the restaurant at Oberbiberg where a cold beer and a traditional Porksandwich await the hungry adventurer. Taking a break here is highly recommended.
Reaching the exhilarating finale at Biberg, you're in for a treat! The toboggan run promises an adrenaline-pumping ride down the mountain, with twists and turns that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.
Whether you're an adventurous soul or simply seeking a peaceful retreat in nature's embrace, the Saarlachtaler Höhenweg offers an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
Tips for the hike:
good mountain boots for the path is rocky and uneven
take enough water and food with you, there are no cabins along the path

if you don't want to ride the toboggan you can either walk down or take the lift back down.
Arrived at the bottom you can walk down to the main road and catch a public bus that can bring you, after one change back to your starting point Asitz station.
