Believe it or not, the croissant has been invented in Vienna. This famous French pastry is based on the Austrian Kipferl and was introduced to France by Maria Antoinette of Austria when she married King Louis XVI of France.

And we can’t forget the Sachertorte also known as the Sacher Cake- the world’s famous chocolate cake. It was invented in 1832 by chef Franz Sacher and the world has never been the same since. To get a taste of a 100% authentic Sachertorte, you must stop by The Hotel Sacher.

Other than delicious food and beautiful architecture, Vienna hosts Europe’s biggest and most diverse museum complex and is home to the world’s oldest zoo, the Tiergarten Schönbrunn which began in 1782.
