Good to Know

Welcome to the Maldives, the sunny side of Life, your dream tropical destination where the sun awaits to embrace you just as warmly as the Maldivian hospitality.

Believe it or not, the Maldives is the flattest country in the world! 1% land. 99% water. The Maldives covers an area of 90,000 square kilometers, with 1,192 islands, situated on the equator.

It is home to an incredible underwater ecosystem with 2,000 diverse marine species that rival rainforests in biodiversity. A paradise suited to all levels of divers and snorkelers.

The first settlements of the Maldives date back to 2,500 years ago. Because of its location people from different cultures came together to create their own traditions unique to the Maldives.

The native language is Dhivehi, an Indo-Aryan based on Sanskrit. Thaana is the current writing system and was developed in the 18th century based on Arabic vowels and Hindu-Arabic consonants.

Unique to the Maldives is also the one-island=one-resort concept. Each individual resort is on its own uninhabited island to guarantee the utmost tranquility and privacy.

Experiences for your bucket list:
• Take ferries, dhonis (traditional sail vessels), or speedboats to visit other islands and atolls.
• Explore the most iconic shipwrecks like Victory Wreck, Vaavu shipwreck, …
• Snorkeling in Hanifaru Bay to see the Mantas.
• Diving at Fish Head to explore the black corals or a secret underwater cave.
• Take a night fishing adventure.
• Surf the Huvadhoo Atoll which has the coolest waves.

Baros Resort

A Vacation Fling

Baros is located just 20 minutes by boat from the capital Malé in the Kaafu (North Male) Atoll, in the middle of a turquoise lagoon with a palm-lined powdered sugar beach, majestic palm trees, and lots of nature. It is the certain nonchalance, the special atmosphere, and the ambiance of the small, compact island that excites us here. In addition, there is the wonderful house reef, which more than impresses every snorkeler and offers a colorful spectacle of gently gliding schools of fish and reef sharks. With a bit of luck, you will meet Finny, a shark without a dorsal fin, which has found its sheltered home on the reef of Baros and some sea turtles.

Suites & Villas

Baros offers five extravagant suites with a big living area, a luxurious bathroom with a bathtub, and a wonderful outdoor rain shower. there is also an infinity pool with an integrated whirlpool, and an exclusive pavilion, equipped with a swinging daybed for a very special view over the Indian Ocean. Here you can enjoy the afternoon in the shade with a good book and a cool drink. Holidays for the eyes and all the senses. A private butler takes care of the well-being of the guests, reserves a table in the restaurant, makes spa appointments, organizes excursions or dinners on the beach, and takes care of fresh fruit and ice cream in the villa.

Just Relax

But not only sunbathers, divers, and snorkelers get their money's worth here. Here the guest can safely leave his shoes and everyday stress in the villa and dive barefoot into the warm sand for guaranteed relaxation. But that doesn't mean that you don't do anything all day long. There is a range of activities that will make the vacation unforgettable. In any case, you should pay a visit to the Serenity Spa and really let yourself be pampered. Whether hot stone, Thai or Balinese massage, the employees are true artists when it comes to physical well-being. The atmosphere in the spa alone ensures pure relaxation.

Sunset Cruise

For romantics, the sunset cruise on a local Dohni is recommended, accompanied by champagne, canapés, and a breathtaking sunset. After a fascinating tour, you are back on the island in time for dinner.
Sunset Cruise

Culinary Dreams

The culinary experience on the island starts in the Sails Bar in the heart of the Palm Garden and the Cayenne Grill Restaurant with a teppanyaki grill right on the lagoon. The Lighthouse gourmet restaurant is an absolute must. With its first-class cuisine and excellent service, it offers the perfect setting for a romantic end to the day. The culinary experience in the "Lighthouse" is mouthwatering, accompanied by a view of a starry night sky.
A drink on the first floor, the Lighthouse Lounge, and then a classic menu with lobster bisque or white onion velouté to start, followed by a yellowfin tuna filet Rossini with foie gras or a crispy duck breast with baby carrots and perhaps a fruit flambeé to finish. Like the lobster bisque, all is prepared at the table.

Delightful Dishes

In the Lime Restaurant, you start the day with a rich breakfast buffet consisting of international specialties, fresh fruit, sausage and ham, freshly baked bread in all imaginable variations, egg dishes, cheese, pastries, croissants, and more. For lunch, Lime offers light meals, sandwiches, burgers, and fish, and in the evenings, guests are enchanted with Asian-influenced cuisine and of course sunset views.

Snorkeling & Reefs

Baros is also known and loved for its beautiful house reef and impressive dive sites. It is advisable to first discover the underwater world around the island together with marine biologists from the Marine Center and then maybe go on your own daily snorkeling adventures. This way, you can learn a lot about this difficult ecosystem and contribute to its preservation. Snorkeling here becomes the ultimate experience.

Deep sea and line fishing are exciting for young and old alike. From dolphin watching, windsurfing, and diving courses to guided snorkeling tours, especially at night, are unforgettable experiences that will make your vacation on Baros unforgettable.

Kandima Resort

Modern Paradise

The Maldives is considered one of the vacation paradises of the world. White sandy beaches, turquoise sea, and fantastic reefs. The Kandima Maldives in the Dhaalu Atoll offers a Maldives experience that is second to none.
Vacation starts right at Malé Airport. Upon arrival, the resort staff will take care of luggage and check-in for the seaplane or domestic flights. The flight with Manta Air lasts about an hour, during which you can enjoy a wonderful view over the atolls and islands of the Maldives before diving into the holiday paradise.

Culinary Delights

Five restaurants ensure excellent catering from morning to evening - the offer ranges from an international buffet in Flavour and Zest, which serves different specialties every day, to the Sea Dragon, which serves extraordinary Far Eastern gastronomy with a view of the vast Indian Ocean. Under a twinkling starry sky, we enjoyed a selection of Dim Sum, fresh fish, and lobster, as well as Gong Bao Chicken, a classic spicy Sichuan dish. In the Azure restaurant, we were impressed by Mediterranean dishes such as Tuna Tartar and Burrata, while the restaurant Smoked serves a variety of barbecue dishes. For a snack in the afternoon, Kandima offers a sandwich shop and its own café, beautifully and idyllically situated on the island's own lake.

Beach Club Pool

During the day, you can best spend your time on the kilometer-long beach or at one of the two pools. Here, the Beach Club and the Breeze Pool Bar provide a variety of refreshing drinks and small meals. If snoozing in the sun and swimming isn't active enough for you, you can explore the house reef with snorkeling equipment that you can borrow for free, or walk the island. Along the beach, the path leads to the so-called Coconut Grove and the picturesque end of the island.

Sun & Fun & Relax

Aquaholics offers exciting diving and snorkeling expeditions, motorized activities such as jet skiing, water skiing, and much more. An adventure in itself is parasailing, where you can fly 100 meters above the sea and enjoy the view over the atoll. There are also tennis courts and a fitness studio, the Burn. The Eskape Spa awaits its guests with a variety of treatments to relax after diving or sports. Accompanied by the sound of the sea, the massages slow down body and soul.

Lodging

The room categories range from the Beach and Sky Studios, which are reminiscent of hotel rooms right on the beach, to the Aqua and Beach Villas with their own pool and offer either private beach or sea access or stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Our Aqua Villa featured a private whirlpool, from which the spectacular sunset could be admired. The huge bathroom shines with a free-standing bathtub with a breathtaking view of the sea. There are two Sunset Aqua Pool Suites at the end of the jetty, which ensure very special vacation moments thanks to their location and the private pool facing the sea.

Kandima App

In order not to lose track of all activities, restaurants, and amenities, Kandima offers its own app. These provide guests with information on daily events - for example, each evening the Breeze Bar offers a different musical performance by local bands. The app also provides information about the opening hours of the restaurants and the current bill. Even room services, such as in-room dining or housekeeping services, can be organized via smartphone.

Niyama Resort

Luxury Vacation

A 50-minute seaplane flight from Male takes us to the Niyama Private Islands Maldives.
The resort is comparatively large in terms of area and offers various vacation options on the twin islands Play and Chill. The name says it all: While Play offers sports activities and a program for families, Chill on the other hand focuses on the Drift Spa, which provides relaxation with special wellness treatments.

Lodging

Niyama offers guests a choice of Beach Suites and Water Studios, each with its own pool. Which one you choose is simply a matter of taste, the one with the fine white sand under your feet and the other with the stairs leading directly from the terrace to the sea. As soon as you enter, the Water Studio scores with a unique view of the Indian Ocean. Although the Niyama is probably one of the resorts in the Maldives that is likely to appeal primarily to sporty travelers, the feeling of absolute relaxation sets in as soon as you move into your "home away from home". This is not only due to the beautiful accommodation but also to the many loving details with which guests are welcomed here. Anantara Hotels' philosophy is to ensure that every visitor that visits one of their properties, feels as comfortable as if they were at home, with the bonus of all-around service that is always as discreet as it is cordial.

Fun in the Sun

While relaxing, our stay is packed with everything the resort has to offer. We are enjoying snorkeling and surfing. There is actually an amazing surfing paradise here and thanks to informative discussions with water sports experts we can extensively explore the diversity of the Indian Ocean. If you have the necessary qualifications, you have the opportunity to explore the biodiversity at a depth of up to 30 meters on a real deep sea dive.

Dine Underwater

In the underwater restaurant Subsix, a trip under the sea surface can be combined with culinary highlights, for example with an extended champagne breakfast.
In general, everything that is put on the plate at Niyama is a real pleasure, as is the ambiance of the different restaurants above and below the water.
Above the Subsix, the restaurant Edge has a true gourmet kitchen, in the middle of the sea. Both restaurants can only be reached by boat.
Dine Underwater

Dine around the world

On Play, on the other hand, the hungry go high. Six meters up in the treetops of the jungle is the restaurant Nest. An Asian restaurant that not only plays at the top in terms of cuisine but also in terms of ambiance. Under the tree house, on ground level, another highlight awaits guests. A teppanyaki table, where Chef Agam awaits a special dinner experience. As everywhere on the island, vegetarians and vegans don’t miss out here either. In addition to meat and fish, vegetables and rice are also prepared here in front of the eyes of the guests – including a fire show and the chef’s juggling skills.
The restaurant Tribal offers African and South American specialties, which make the culinary offers in the resort as international as its employees and guests. Thanks to bad weather, we even had the opportunity to complete a cooking course with the chefs.

Milaidhoo Resort

Milaidhoo Island

Our Lux Buzz Highlights Milaidhoo, Maldives

Milaidhoo stands out for its exceptional blend of luxury and privacy, set in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Unique features include:

Ba’theli Restaurant: Dining on a traditional Maldivian boat, offering cuisine inspired by the Maldivian Spice Route.
Personalized Experiences: Private dolphin cruises, sandbank picnics, and bespoke dining experiences.
Marine Biodiversity: Proximity to vibrant coral reefs, ideal for snorkeling and diving with manta rays and whale sharks.
Exclusive Privacy: Each guest has an Island Host, ensuring personalized service and utmost privacy.

Casual & Elegant

In the middle of the Indian Ocean, Milaidhoo Island enchants even the most discerning guest with beautiful, white sandy beaches and a lively underwater world where dolphins, whale sharks, and manta rays can be seen. The half-hour flight in a Manta Air seaplane from Malé over the picturesque world of the Maldives Islands is a special experience. The over-water villas can be seen from afar. In the green of the tropical island jungle, the roofs of the beach villas with their own pool come into sight, and the anticipation increases.

Lodging

Milaidhoo offers more than just luxury beach vacations. It reinterprets the casual-luxe island lifestyle with a connection to nature that mirrors the modern Maldivian style. Milaidhoo impressively combines the roots of the original Maldives with the sophistication of a luxury 5-star boutique resort.
No matter which category you book, privacy and personal service are guaranteed. Each villa has its own pool and a personal host who strives to make your wishes come true before they are even spoken out loud. The furniture in the villas was individually selected and handcrafted for Milaidhoo. The design is contemporary, but unmistakably in Maldivian style. The focus has been placed on the beauty of the surroundings, as the villas open 180 degrees to their own pool and the sea, allowing nature to become part of the living space.

Culinary Experiences

Gourmets will not be disappointed in the three restaurants and two bars. The absolute highlight is the signature restaurant Batheli by the Reef, embedded in the silhouette of three traditional Maldivian Dhoni boats and floating elegantly over the Indian Ocean. It is the only restaurant in the Maldives to offer a modern interpretation of traditional island cuisine. The actual restaurant is on one of the boats, the bar lounge is on the second, and the kitchen is on the third boat. Guests can dine at the Baheli under a starry sky on the deck or in the air-conditioned boat itself with a unique view of the sea. Every evening, guests can indulge themselves both à la carte or with a six-course Maldives experience menu. The menu includes classic Maldivian dishes such as Garadhiya (clear tuna soup), Mashuni (tuna salad with coconut, pumpkin, and lime) as well as a selection of regional specialties from many different atolls of the Maldives, such as beef curry from the north or chicken curry from the deep south.

We were also impressed by the Shore Line, a grill restaurant with a romantic setting under the most beautiful starry sky imaginable. Here, beef, lobster, and seafood are prepared and served to perfection.
After a good night's sleep, the impressive breakfast buffet awaits hungry vacationers in the All Day Restaurant Ocean.

Relax at the Pool

Romantics and connoisseurs alike will feel at home in the Compass Bar. Here you can chill out on comfortable lounge furniture or swings with a drink or snacks, eat a burger, a club sandwich, or a salad and refresh yourself in the pool. In the evening, cocktails with the freshest ingredients are served under the stars overlooking the sea. This spectacle alone should not be missed. This is like a romance novel.
The resort's wine list in all restaurants reads like a book and is hard to beat. Most of the wines are presented in an impressive "wine room" in the Shoreline Grill.

Immerse Yourself

Not only the culinary delights are impressive on Milaidhoo. A visit to the spa is in no way inferior. The Serenity Spa consists of four treatment suites on stilts over the lagoon. In a specially designed pavilion, guests can also take part in daily yoga and meditation classes, or indulge themselves in one of the many massage and wellness treatments. In any case, you come back like a new person.

Dream Vacation

Guests will find enough material for unforgettable vacation stories while relaxing on the beaches, snorkeling on the house reef, and diving as well as other water sports which are offered in the turquoise blue lagoon. Morning and evening fishing trips and sunset cruises with dolphin watching are popular with guests.

Park Hyatt Hadahaa

Serenity at the Equator

The Park Hyatt Resort Hadahaa in the northern Huvadhoo Atoll, almost 500 kilometers south of Male, impresses with its extraordinary design in harmony with lush nature, a fish and species-rich house reef, and beautiful beaches.
After arriving with the hotel's own speedboat, the welcome committee of the Park Hyatt awaits you at the jetty and accompanies you to the lobby where a cold towel and a drink are waiting. The lobby is a spectacular wooden structure that looks like an overturned Maldivian fishing boat, a Dhoni. Upon entering the island, surrounded by white sandy beaches, serenity and calm set in. Freed from constricting shoes, we put our feet in the warm white sand. The stress of everyday life gives way to a unique feeling of well-being and happiness. You really don't need shoes during your stay at the Park Hyatt. Barefoot luxury is hip.

Lodging

The resort is the first boutique hotel in the Maldives' southern atoll to receive the Green Globe Certification for building, planning, and design standards. The spirit and beauty of the Maldives are reflected in the Beach Villas and Water Villas. The Water Villas impress with their distinctive design and a unique panorama over the Indian Ocean. Floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea and a private terrace with a direct descent into the sea.
In contrast, the Island Villas are tucked away in the island's natural vegetation and are barely visible from the beach. Some of the villas have a small private pool, but all have their own terrace and a unique outdoor bathroom with a shower and a free-standing bathtub.

Haute Cuisine in Paradise

After a relaxing day, chef Pankaj Bisht's culinary delights await. Already at breakfast, which is ordered á la carte in "The Dining Room", you get excited. From homemade yogurt to countless egg dishes such as omelets with vegetables or Eggs Benedict, jams, and fresh bread, there is everything your heart desires. At lunchtime, a small fine menu is kept ready in the restaurant by the pool, which offers a varied selection from classic hamburgers to Caesar salad with chicken to the freshly caught catch of the day. In the evening the menu is more extensive and those who have booked half-board can put together their own dishes from the a la carte menu.
The Island Grill Restaurant scores with romantic flair and excellent cuisine. Here you can indulge in culinary delights with your bare feet in the sand and simply enjoy the atmosphere. The wine list is very extensive and well-sorted like in any top restaurant in Europe.

Snorkel the Island Reef

The diversity of the underwater world begins just a few meters from the beach. You don't need to be an avid diver to see all the beauty that the reef surrounding the island has to offer. Thousands and thousands of colorful fish, small and large reef sharks, barracudas, mackerel, and parrot fish, to name just a few, pass us snorkelers and give us a breathtaking experience.
The house reef drops down to a depth of 100 meters and can be reached with just a few fin strokes. Here, in addition to the colorful schools of fish, are huge fan corals, which I have never seen anywhere else in the Maldives. Even experienced divers get excited here.

Wellness for Body & Soul

Service is also a top priority at the Vidhun Spa. Here traditional spa methods are combined with innovative and trendy interpretations. The result is an invigorating, calming, detoxifying, or balancing effect on the mind and body. The treatments, influenced by the healing tradition of the Maldives, correspond to the four elements with their natural products.
