Weißbach
Weißbach is a charming village in the Saalachtal region, known for its numerous outdoor recreational opportunities. Nestled in the Salzburg Alps, it offers scenic hiking trails, extensive mountain and climbing tours, and beautiful gorge, and a tranquil atmosphere perfect for nature lovers.

Hikes

Seehorn

The hike to the 2,322-meter-high Seehorn is considered one of the most beautiful mountain tours in the Weißbach Nature Park in the Salzburg Saalachtal.

We took a taxi from Weißbach to the Kalbrunner Alm. The ascent begins at the Kalbrunner Alm and initially leads towards the Seehornsee. At the lake's shore, you can take a wonderful break and, if the temperatures allow, take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear, cold lake. Then, it goes steeply uphill to the Seehornspitze. The path is rocky and requires good physical condition. At the summit cross, you will be rewarded with an indescribably beautiful panorama.
After a well-deserved break, the hike continues towards Wimbachscharte. You follow the trail along the Kematenschneid until the path branches off to the right over rocky ledges to Hochwies. Here, you will find one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Alps. You can observe marmots and ibexes. Lie down in the grass and let the unique nature work its magic on you.
In this unspoiled high meadow, you continue hiking along the Dießbach to a steep step, where the trail merges with path No. 401. The route then leads along a forest road to the Dießbachstausee and finally back to the Kalbrunner Alm.

Tips:
Challenging mountain tour, a good physical condition is required.
Hiking gear, mountain boots, and hiking poles are advantageous.
Climbing gloves are beneficial, as the rocks are partly very sharp.
Bring enough water and food. There are no huts on this mountain tour.
The best way to get to and from the Kalbrunner Almen is by mountain taxi.
